Adding Allocation Rules

You can add allocation rules to groups on the Rules tab on the Allocations setup page.

You can "" Copy an existing rule to modify instead of creating one if the setup information is similar.
  1. Navigate to the Setup > Allocations > Rules tab.
  2. Select a Rule Set from the drop-down list.
  3. Select an Area from the drop-down list.
  4. Select a group from the list.
    The new rule is nested under the selected group.
  5. Select "" Add.
    The Type defaults to Rule.
  6. Enter a Name.
  7. Select a different group to nest the rule under from the Belongs To drop-down list if needed.
  8. Select an Income/Expense Type of Direct, Indirect, or Overhead.
    This field is available if the Area is Non-Interest Income/Expense.
  9. Select a Method.
    The available methods are based on the selected Area. The method determines the fields that are available and required for the rule.
  10. Enter a percentage for % to Allocate.
    This field is available if the Method is Evenly Distribute or Transfer %.
  11. Select an effective Begin date.
  12. Select an effective End date, if applicable.
  13. Select a Source Account.
  14. Select a Source Organization.
    You can select multiple organizations if the Method is Reassign Values.
  15. Select Close Out Source Organization, if applicable.
    This field is available if the Area is Non-Interest Income/Expense, and the Source Account is Net Income.
  16. Select a Target Account.

    If you select a total account, then a dialog box opens that reads:

    "[Account Name]" is a total account. Rules can be created for each of the detail accounts that sum into this total. The process will copy the defined Rule settings to create the Rule for each detail account.

    Select Continue to create a rule for each detailed account under the total account.

  17. Select a Target Organization.
    You can select multiple organizations if the Method is Evenly Distribute, Transfer %, Transfer Price, Direct Transfer, or Capital.
  18. Enter Notes, if applicable.
  19. Select Save.

You can view and export the Audit Log that shows a list of changes made to the rule. The log shows before and after the changes, who made the changes, and time stamps. You can "" Delete a rule if it is no longer needed.

You can select Test Results to see the effect of the current rule. This action opens the Test Results screen. You can export the test results.
