Report Writer - File Menu

The File menu in the Report Writer lets you access many options, including creating, opening, previewing, saving, importing, and exporting reports.

New

This option lets you create a blank matrix containing 10 columns and 50 rows.

You can also use the "" New Report speed button for this purpose.

If you want to expand the size of the new report, then right-click and insert more columns or rows. You can also open the Insert menu to select an option.

Open

This option lets you access stored reports in the database.

You can also use the "" Open Report speed button for this purpose.

Since you can only open one report at a time, the application asks if you want to save changes to the report that you are viewing when you attempt to open another report.

Save

This option lets you save report definitions to the database.

You can also use the "" Save Report speed button for this purpose.

When you have already saved the current report, there are no prompts when selecting this option. The report saves with the same name.

Save As
This option lets you save an existing report with a new name.
Manage Reports
This option lets you delete or rename reports.
Page Setup
This option opens the Page Setup dialog box that contains five tabs: Page, Scale, Report, Header & Footer, and Advanced. The settings found on these tabs control all aspects of the report's page layout.
Preview

This option lets you see how the report looks on a printed page based on the current Page Setup options.

You can also use the "" Preview Report speed button for this purpose.

Import
This option lets you bring any Report Writer reports that exist outside of the FPS database into the Report Writer. You can import both current .rwr and legacy .psr and .par files. After importing, you must name and save the report.
Export
This option lets you send the report to a location outside of the FPS database and save it as a .rwr file.
Properties
This option lets you view basic information related to the report.
Exit (Alt+F4)

This option closes the Report Writer screen.

If you have modified the report, then a Confirm dialog box appears asking if you want to save the changes before closing the Report Writer screen.
